Enhancing Conservation for Native Pollinators
At Shepherdstown Bee City USA®, we are dedicated to uniting communities in the essential mission of sustaining our pollinators. With over 3,600 species of native bees in the United States, these incredible insects play a vital role in our ecosystem. Our initiative aims to foster their well-being through three key actions: increasing the abundance of native plants, providing safe nesting sites, and reducing pesticide usage.
Our Mission:
Educate and Conserve
The primary goal of Shepherdstown Bee City is to educate our members and the wider community about the importance of conserving native pollinators. By collaborating to create habitats rich in native flora, ensuring accessible nesting spaces, and advocating for reduced pesticide usage, we can create a thriving environment for our pollinators. Our efforts align with the initiatives of the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation, emphasizing a collective commitment to protecting these crucial species.
